Inside the app you configure your own boat, explore a fleet encyclopedia, study hull science with interactive tools, track equipment maintenance, and keep a detailed logbook. Because your personal records stay on your device, your maritime data stays entirely yours.
Important: Keelcraft is an educational and organizational tool. It is not a chart plotter or navigation system for safe passage planning. Marine weather is fetched from Open-Meteo using coordinates you set in Settings. Keelcraft is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any government maritime authority, coast guard, or navigation service.

Your maritime records stay on your device.
Keelcraft is built on a straightforward promise: your personal data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. We do not operate user accounts, and we do not sell your information.

Information We Collect
Keelcraft has no sign-up, no login, and no user accounts. We do not ask for your name or email inside the app. The following stays on your device only: boat profile and specifications, equipment inventory, fuel logs, voyage notes, photos you attach to gear or your boat, learning progress, and app preferences (units, coordinates, notification settings).
Network Requests
When you refresh the marine brief, Keelcraft sends the latitude and longitude you set in Settings to the Open-Meteo Marine API to retrieve wave height, wind speed, and sea surface temperature. Fleet articles may load vessel images from public Wikimedia URLs. No personal identifiers are included in these requests.
Photos, Camera & Notifications
With your permission, Keelcraft accesses the camera or photo library only to attach images to gear locker items or your boat profile. With your permission, local notifications remind you when equipment maintenance is due. Live Activity shows Voyage Watch status on your Lock Screen when you start a watch session.
Data Storage & Export
All user-created content is stored in the app's private storage on your device. There is no cloud sync and no remote backup operated by us. You can export your data as text from Settings at any time using the system share sheet.
Third-Party Services
Keelcraft does not include third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking SDKs. The only external services used are Open-Meteo for marine weather data and Wikimedia for optional reference images in Fleet articles.
Children's Privacy
Keelcraft does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through any server-side process. Because personal records remain on the device and we operate no accounts, the app aligns with COPPA expectations for a local-only utility.
Your Control
You can edit or delete equipment, logs, notes, and photos at any time. Disabling notifications or Live Activity stops those features immediately. Deleting the app permanently removes all associated local data from your device.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect app improvements or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. The core commitment — local-first personal data with minimal external requests — will not change without notice here.
